Jain Population in India

India is home to over 95% of the world’s Jains. According to the last official census (2011), the population was million.

he Jain diaspora is small but highly affluent, primarily settled in English-speaking nations and East Africa.

  • United States: ~150,000 – 200,000. Large communities exist in New Jersey, California, and Texas.
  • Kenya: ~100,000. A historic community involved in manufacturing and trade.
  • United Kingdom: ~30,000 – 40,000. Mostly concentrated in London and Leicester.
  • Canada: ~15,000 – 20,000. Growing rapidly in the Toronto area.
  • UAE & SE Asia: Significant business communities in Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Majority of NW origin Jain population resides in the 4 cities – Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat and Delhi.
