There are only around 3000 billionaires in the world, out of which around 300 are of Indian ethnicity, (some reside outside India so don’t get counted as Indian) and out of these, Jains (Gujarati – Marwari) have the highest concentration (out of the tiny 2 million population), and North West Indians (of regions influenced by Free Market culture of Jains the most) have 80% billionaire count of the entire Indians. North – West India here refers to the regions of Gujarat, Marwar/Rajasthan, Sindh and Punjab. The entrepreneurial cultural drive in NW India exists due to proactive efforts of Jains throughout history and their influence on masses and region. The billionaire count numbers also matches the proportional levels of Jain cultural influence currently on these regions: Gujarat + Marwar > Sindh > Punjab. Additionally there are indirect influences also for few Billionaires from South India who initially worked for a Jain (Infosys billionaires from Patni) or had relocated to North India from South India (HCL).
The successful gives back to the community, less fortunate ones, and for the welfare of animal life through donations, and a part of the wealth is donated away when nearing retirement or after death.
Amongst the wealthiest men or maybe the wealthiest men in the world in 16th and 17th century were Jains – Virji Vohra (Gujarati Jain), Shantidas Jhaveri (Marwari – Gujarati Jain), Jagat Seth (Marwari Jain).
The most advanced Tech corporations from India since past : Founder of ISRO (Space agency) – Vikram Sarabhai (Gujarati Jain), Founder of HAL (Fighter Jet manufacturing) – Walchand Doshi (Gujarati Jain).
Founder of Bombay Stock Exchange – Premchand Roychand (Gujarati Jain).
The billionaire count is impressive since its coming from a corrupt bureaucratic country having one of the lowest IQ in the world of 82 and a GDP per capita of $3000.
Mumbai :
Successful Mumbai based Gujarati Jains are the most Elite and sophisticated Jains. Most of Bombay’s development from the start in 1850 A.D, came through Gujaratis, including the foundation of Bombay Stock Exchange. The Gujarati (including Kutchis) population in Bombay was at 29 % in 1891 A.D (Not sure if it includes Gujarati Muslims in the data). Mumbai to Ahmedabad is the real Jain cultural belt, and Gujarati Jains on this belt reflect truer general mindset of Jains. Relatively, Gujarati Jains have also protected Jain values better than other Jains, and outside of India. Mumbai to Ahmedabad, is also the most financialized and industrialized region in South Asia. Muslims, Parsis, All caste Hindus have benefitted from the cultural influence of Jains on Gujarat. Gujarati people (outside the rotten apples (sociopaths/evil) and liberal or nationalist influenced unrooted types, reflect Jain traits – compassionate, helpful nature, kind, peaceful, non – violent, polite, happy go lucky, community uplifting and being entrepreneurial. Elite Gujarati Hindus are more Jain by their Karma, than even the Jain in other locations who are more unrooted relatively. Gujarati Muslims based in Karachi, Pakistan are the wealthiest Pakistanis; 12/40 of the rich list, with being 4 million or 0.4 % of Pakistan’s population.
The same also holds true for Marwari Hindus but to a lesser extent as Jain influenced dwindled relatively in Marwar in history.
Some parts of Mumbai (formerly Bombay) are amongst the most civilized regions in South Asia, and then comes Ahmedabad, and then the stretch between Mumbai to Ahmedabad. Mumbai is the city with maximum billionaires in South Asia. Majority of NW origin Jain population resides in the 4 cities – Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat and Delhi.
The historical and cultural presence and influence of Jains in Sindh and with Sindh bordering Gujarat – Marwar, gives the strong entrepreneurial identity to Indian Sindhi Hindus (a good percentage are Lohanas) who migrated from Sindh in 1947, and also have significant billionaire count. Some Punjabis from North West migrated to Bombay and they also have some billionaire count for Mumbai with the rest being for Delhi.
Delhi/NCR :
Delhi has highest billionaire count In South Asian (57 billionaires) after Mumbai (92 billionaires) due to the same Jain and Jain influenced communities of NW India, which comes from mostly Jains, Punjabi Khatri – Arora – Bhatia, Marwari, Rajasthani and Haryanvi Banias. Just like other communities of NW India, Punjabis especially Arora and Khatri clan have benefitted from the entrepreneurial culture influenced by Jains throughout history, giving them billionaire numbers, and they had migrated to Delhi from West Punjab after the creation of Pakistan in 1947, where Jain influences was historically present including specially last in Lahore area. Delhi has the highest Jain population concentration outside of Mumbai – Surat – Ahmedabad belt.
Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata etc :
There are also some Billionaires also in Bengaluru, and Bengaluru which is in Southern Karnataka and near Tamil Naidu border, had strong Jain influence at a time in history which has shaped the mindset to an extent of the local people that it is economically better developed relatively than rest of India along with the reasons it has NW Indian communities which have migrated in recent times and setup corporations over there. ISRO and HAL are headquartered in Bengaluru. Note that there is a large percentage of local ethnic Jain converts in Maharashtra and South India, and they are not related to NW Jains who also reside there, but these NW Jain migrant groups of past are also largely unrooted from their culture, have become local like and don’t have the spark of the current NW Indians.
Pune also has presence of NW Indian communities, and so does Kolkata particularly Marwaris of mostly past migration.
Jain influence kept Marxism away :
The below shows spread of Jainism and the spread of radical Marxism. Jainism kept Marxism away as it also kept Low IQ Conservative influence in check which contributes to masses being swayed by Left wing ideologies.
